The Austrian trade magazine Holzkurier reported in issue 25/2025 that, in 2025, Holtec demonstrated through numerous projects and innovations how the “sawmill of the future” is becoming reality step by step. At Ligna, the company presented a comprehensive concept for a digitally networked and fully electric log yard, including the VPK LogHandler portal crane, AI modules and remote control. At the same time, several international projects were implemented, such as modernisations and new systems in Austria, Germany, Latvia and France. Two awards – in the “Innovator of the Year” competition and as “Sawmill Supplier of the Year 2025”, presented by Holzkurier – underline, according to the report, Holtec’s role as a technological driver in digitalisation, automation and sustainable log logistics.
