Innovations in focus: portal crane attracts visitors at LIGNA in Hanover

Holzkurier reported that Holtec presented numerous innovations for the wood industry at LIGNA 2023 in Hanover. The company’s trade fair appearance focused on solutions for log yards in the sawmill industry, applications for the wood‑based materials industry and its portfolio of package cross‑cut saws. Particular attention was drawn to the new fully electric VPK LogHandler portal crane, which was developed as a sustainable alternative to diesel-powered handling machines and proved to be a real visitor attraction at the trade fair.

In addition, Holtec presented a crane simulator for operator training as well as an enhanced simulation programme for the planning and dimensioning of plants. Complementing this, the company showcased Holtec Mobile Services, a digital service platform for maintenance, spare parts management and plant monitoring, including remote maintenance via smart glasses or mobile devices.

Further topics included ergonomic workplace solutions such as the Ergocontrol operating concept, the batch debarker for pellet producers and the proven range of package cross‑cut saws. Overall, according to the report, Holtec demonstrated innovative solutions for more efficient, more sustainable and more digitalised wood processing.
