Interview with Alexander Gebele: Innovation and responsibility in the sawmill industry

In an interview with the business media platform Wirtschaftsforum General Manager Alexander Gebele explains that HOLTEC GmbH & Co. KG, based in Hellenthal, is systematically advancing solutions for the “sawmill of the future” in order to meet the challenges of rising energy prices, scarce raw materials and growing digitalisation requirements. The company is one of the European market leaders in log handling and develops individually planned systems for the first stage of wood processing.

During the interview, Gebele outlines how HOLTEC has evolved from a traditional machine manufacturer into a strategic full-service provider. Today, customers expect comprehensive solutions ranging from the log yard through to transfer to the sawing line, with growth potential lying primarily in modernisation projects, efficiency improvements and international developments.

A key focus is placed on sustainability and digitalisation. Fully electric portal crane solutions reduce the use of fossil fuels as well as operating and space costs, while digital systems, remote control technologies and AI-based applications ensure more efficient, precise and ergonomic processes.

Shaped by values such as reliability and long-term partnerships, HOLTEC, according to Gebele, is pursuing the goal of actively advancing the industry and helping to shape the transformation towards a sustainable and technologically modern sawmilling sector.
