Active in training and further education for many years – Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and Chamber of Crafts visit Holtec

In April 2024, the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger reported that the training market in the Euskirchen district has developed positively. According to data from the Federal Employment Agency, both the number of applicants and the number of available apprenticeship positions have increased. Between October 2023 and March 2024, a total of 834 young people registered with careers guidance services – around 20% more than in the previous year. At the same time, the number of reported apprenticeship vacancies rose to 750, also a significant increase.

The figures were presented at Holtec in Blumenthal, a company that has been strongly committed to training and further education for many years. With around 180 employees, the company regularly employs approximately 20 apprentices. General Manager Ute Klement emphasised the importance of dual vocational training and the wide range of development opportunities available, for example through dual study programmes or different career paths within the company.

Flexible training models also play an important role. For example, Holtec offers part-time apprenticeships, including for people with family responsibilities. Representatives of the Employment Agency, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Chamber of Crafts highlighted that such offerings can make companies more attractive while at the same time opening up new opportunities for apprentices.
