Another important milestone has been reached in the construction of the new Kirnbauer Holzindustrie sawmill in Neunkirchen, Austria: our HOLTEC VPK Loghandler, the portal crane for automated log handling, has been successfully installed and commissioned.
The new facility is among the most modern sawmills in Europe and consistently follows a climate-neutral and digital production concept. Short material flows, the extensive elimination of industrial trucks, and resource-efficient log handling form the foundation of an efficient and future-oriented operation.
This is exactly where our “Sawmill of the Future” concept becomes reality: rethinking processes, making intelligent use of automation and digitalization, while improving efficiency, sustainability, and workplace safety.
The VPK Loghandler is a key component of this approach. It will take over the automated handling of logs in the new log yard and integrates seamlessly into the overall concept of the facility. For us, Kirnbauer is another example of how the Sawmill of the Future is becoming a reality, step by step.
A big thank you to Kirnbauer Holzindustrie, our HOLTEC team, and all project partners for the excellent cooperation and strong partnership throughout this project.
And the next exciting milestone is already just around the corner: next week, the first logs will pass through the line, and the VPK will begin operations in the new log yard.
